Childbirth Education

A Childbirth Education class (antenatal class) is a good place to learn about non-biased birthing experiences, which provides you with the options on birthing to help you decide what you want. 94% of our members who have attended this course have found it relevant, beneficial and very enjoyable. Women are welcome to attend on their own or with their husband/partner or support person.

What will our 7 week Childbirth Education class offer You?

Antenatal Class

  • Quality childbirth education provided by trained childbirth educators
  • A friendly learning environment with a group of expectant parents from your area
  • A comprehensive and flexible course designed to enhance the ability of people to assess their own needs information about pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding
  • Practical parenting tips and coping with life after birth

When

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night classes run throughout the year. See the course schedule below
  • There are 6 blocks of classes per year to choose from

  • Khandallah Town Hall (Upstairs room) - 11 Ganges Road
  • Karori Recreation Centre - 251 Karori Rd, Karori. (Between Library and Mobil Service Station)

Early Enrolment is Essential! We Recommend Booking by 16 weeks

  • We recommend booking a class near the end of your pregnancy that finishes at least 2-3 weeks before your due date (earlier if having twins or if having a planned early delivery)

Cost

  • Fee: $195.00
  • Includes one years Parents Centre Membership
  • (includes our bi-monthly publications Kiwi Parent Magazine and Wellington Regional Newsletter "The Sandbox")

What Parents Centre Membership Offers You

Once your baby is born, WNPC offers support in various topics like feeding, sleeping, physical development and when to call the doctor in our Baby & You Seminars. For older children, we run parent education evenings on moving and munching (4-12 months), tinies to tots (10-18 months - covers play and development, care of teeth and nutrition, care of feet and shoe basics), sleep, toilet training, CPR for babies and toddlers, speech development, toddlers (covers behavior and nutrition), Music & Movement, and more. Keep a lookout for these classes on our Parent & Caregiver Education page and published in our newsletter "The Sandbox".
